DJ Williams surprising musical taste

It's not too often that the NFL stars surprise me with their musical choices.  Nine times out of ten, it's either rap or rock as their preferred style.  But reading through DJ Williams Green Bay Packers official profile actually made me stop and re-read a few times.  Because, whoa guys, DJ Williams is not ashamed to hide one of his favorite musical artists of all time.  And here she is...none other than Celine Dion!

Just as shocked as I am.
DJ Williams must really enjoy her top hits from Titanic of course or "All By Myself."  Classic.  But what does he listen to before stepping on the gridiron?  She does have some zesty tunes in addition to her ballads.  Perhaps it's something like "River Deep, Mountain High" or the passionate and inspiring "It's All Coming Back to Me Now."  That one is intense.

So there you have it.  DJ Williams is a Celine Dion lover.  Wonder if he shares his iPod with the other guys on the team...

Brandon Saine's Musical Tastes

Brandon Saine is known for his incredible speed on the football field.  Since many people use music to pump up before games or work-outs, let's take a quiz about Brandon Saine.
How well do you know this guy?

What style of music does Brandon Saine most enjoy?

A.  Country

B.  Rap

C.  R&B

D.  Metal

E.  Pop

Well, according to Brandon Saine's official Green Bay Packers profile, the answer is option C: R&B.  In fact, Brandon Saine's favorite artist is Brian McKnight, a well-known R&B crooner.

Brian McKnight says hello.
Perhaps Brandon Saine enjoys the contrast of mellow R&B to the intensity of his onfield performances.  Either way, next time Brandon Saine comes flying across Lambeau Field, we all know he was pumped up for action by R&B music.  Cool.

Charlie Peprah's Beat Machine

Charlie Peprah keeping it real with the younger generation.
Charlie Peprah is a talented Green Bay Packers player with passions in a wide variety of venues.  However, it's his interest in a beat machine that is perhaps the most unique.

A sampling of beat machines for your viewing pleasure.

This kind of contraption would be mesmerizing for most people I know.  There are buttons for all different kinds of sounds and drum patterns.  Put it all together and you have the ability to make some awesome songs for play for family and friends.

Not sure if Charlie Peprah publishes his music online somewhere, but, if not, I'd be interested to hear what kind of beats he lays down.

Getting funky with Nick Barnett

Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett has musical talents! In fact, his love for turntables, hip-hop, rap, pop, blues, and music mixing and paved the way for several business ventures. The first, Clarity Records, is Nick Barnett's own record company. The second, Traxx Squad, is his production company, both of which keep him busy year round.

Nick BarnettIn June 2009, Clarity Records released the album "If This is the Mixtape, Imagine the Album" by artist Bee High from St. Louis, Missouri. Of course Nick Barnett was there to take it all in. It must have been satisfying for this former deejay to see his work pay off. It can take a long time for musical productions to get off the ground and Nick Barnett's seemed to fall into place.

Nick Barnett took his work a step further to bring music home. His Green Bay home now includes a full-blown recording studio! How cool is that?

Spencer Havner loves John Mayer in a completely platonic way

It seems that many Green Bay Packers players like the mellow guitar and vocal music of musicians like Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson. Spencer Havner is no exception. He lists John Mayer as one of his favorite--if not his all-time favorite--musician!

What songs do you think Spencer Havner most enjoys?

Spencer Havner
- "Daughters"
- "Man on the Side"
- "Waiting on the World to Change"
- some other Mayer option of which I am not familiar

And do you think more or less of Spencer Havner now you know his passion for John Mayer's music?

To be honest, John Mayer used to bug me. And he sure looked like an idiot in his Rolling Stone interview where he talked about Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

However, from time to time, his music can be mellow and soothing.

But then again, there are things like this:

The week of the quarterback: Aaron Rodgers

Since I just profiled back-up Green Bay Packers quarterback, Matt Flynn, it's time to turn our attention to the one, the only Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaron Roooooooooooooooooooooooooodgers! (Thunderous applause!!!)

Aaron RodgersPleasantly surprised at this warm reception.

What else can I possibly say about this dude? Last year I covered his romantic relationship with Julie Henderson and his mused about his signature locks. We even staged a "Who Is Hotter?" competition with Aaron Rodgers versus Brian Brohm. Girlfriend, hair, hotness. Nothing but the essentials here at Packer Players blog.

So, let's continue to learn more about this Cali-born and bred and Green Bay Packers qb! Something you may not know is that Aaron Rodgers is a big fan of both country and indie rock music. A few of his favorite artists include Pete Murray, Anberlin, Counting Crows, The Killers, and Number One Gun.

This explains Aaron Rodgers laid-back sense of style. Here he is followed by a picture of a member from Number One Gun.

Aaron Rodgers
Number One GunThe scruff, the hat, the chill vibe? I can see the similarities here. Check out one of these bands to get a better taste of what Aaron Rodgers certainly listens to pre-game. I'd recommend Anberlin's "Paperthin Hymn" to start things off. Enjoy!
