Clay Matthew jerseys are a HOT hot commodity for Packer fans everywhere. I'm wearing my Clay Matthews jersey today because I love the Packers, even when it's not Packer season. Football season may be over, but my love for the Packers will live on the remainder of the year.

Whos everyone's favorite Packer player? Mine is Clay Matthews, I'm sure you might agree. I wanted to do a quick profile on my favorite Packer play, Clay Matthews. Keep reading if you want to know the inside scoop on Clay Matthews.

William Clay Matthews III was born May 14, 1986 in Northridge, California into a football dynasty. Clay’s father Clay Matthews Jr. played professional football and holds the record of third most games played 278 games in 19 seasons. Clay Matthews grandfather Clay Mathews Sr. played 4 seasons for the San Francisco 49ers in the 1950s.

Clay Matthews played high school football in Agoura High School but because he was a late bloomer he was physically too small for the game for most of his 4 years and thus was not scouted or recruited by any NCAA Division-I schools. Clay Matthews decided to go to his father’s alma matter and walk-on at the University of Southern California. He sat out the 2004 season with a redshirt despite being offered game time. Clay Matthews insisted on not wasting a year of eligibility for throw away time at the end of the game, a decision that paid off. In 2005 Clay’s hard work paid off and he saw game time in 12 of 13 USC Trojans games, missing only the season opener because of an injury. By 2006 Clay Matthews was given an athletic scholarship and was seeing lots of game time, he played in every game that season and pulled down 15 tackles and a sack.

The 2007 season saw a continuation of the growth and success that Clay Matthews had started in 2006. He played in all 13 games and posted 17 tackles, two forced fumbles and a pass defense. He was also named Special Teams Player of the Year for the 2nd time. As a senior at USC, the Trojan football program had really shaped Clay Matthews into a strong defensive player. Clay Matthews started 10 games and posted 56 tackles. He was also named All-Pac 10 Honors and honorable mention All-American by Pro football weekly.

Clay Matthews was selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers and is proud to make his family the second ever to have 3 generations play in the NFL. In September 2010, Matthews was awarded with the NFL's defensive player of the month award and later to the 2011 Pro Bowl NFC roster, which was his second consecutive selection in two years of play. After helping to lead his defensive line to Super Bowl XLV, Matthews missed out on the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award by only two votes.

Clay Matthews' Workout Style

It's no question Clay Matthews works out a lot.  Just look at the dude.

Ripped?  Yes.

How he gets there is plenty of time spent in the gym, but I was wondering what kind of workout style he selects once he's in there lifting weights and working on cardio.  Up above he's got a classic Nike black T, and just cut out of the picture are a pair of black gloves.  The hair is pulled back in a simply pony (?) and he looks ready to sweat.  Here's a few more pictures of Clay Matthews' workout style:

Clay Matthews Vs. Brian Cushings

Clay Matthews came out of the same draft as Brian Cushing after both players went to USC and dominated there. Cushing was drafted ahead of Matthews in the first round. Now we're going to see who is better looking and cooler. First, we have Cushing.



What a little turd muffin. It looks like he has a little burnt spot on his head. Plus he got caught with steroids and is really ugly.



Yep, you guessed it. Clay Matthews is much, much better than Brian Cushing in every which way. He is better looking, he has flowing hair that is so much better than Cushing's. The cherry on top, he won NFC Defensive player of the year, not too shabby. Oh and who has won a Super Bowl?

Tim Masthay For Sure the Packer's Punter

Tim Masthay is for sure the Packers punter now and I love it. it's really nice to have stability at the position and it's something that I have been waiting for for quite some time. Masthay is an absolute stud and I've been waiting for a guy exactly like him to take the reigns on this job and really run with it. I mean is there any doubt he's killing this ball. I have to say, Masthay looks extremely dorky and should take tips from Sam Shield or Clay Matthews on how to wear a football uniform. He should also get stronger too.

Hair War: A.J. Hawk vs. Clay Matthews

While they work as one on the field to defend their Super Bowl title, they are allowed to have an off field battle over whose hair is better. This is a crucial battle and I think it's close. Let's take a look at the evidence.



Wow, it's very close. Here's what I have to say: AJ's hair is a little to strangly for my liking. It looks unkept and stringy. Clay Matthews is think and free flowing and that's why I think he won this very easily.

James Jones My Feelings for You

James Jones, there was a point in time, where I didn't think you would resign with the Green Bay Packers. I watched ESPN every day and they kept saying that you wanted to be a number 1 or 2 receiver somewhere and I didn't know if that was possible in Green Bay. All I know is that I really, really wanted you back. When I found out you signed with us again. My reaction was like this (replaced nintendo 64 with James Jones)

Donald Driver is Still on this Team

That's right folks. Donald Driver is still a member of this team. Just so we can wrap your minds around how old he is and how long he has been on the team, I'm going to tell you what was happening in 1999 when Donald Driver was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 7th round of the 1999 NFL Draft. I was going to do 80 things about 1999 in honor of Driver but I truly don't want to do that.

1. The world was preparing to have a global millennium party.

2. There was an email virus called Melissa that destroyed nearly 1 million computers and caused 80 million dollars in damage.

3. The human population surpassed 6 billion.

4. Myspace became a part of the internet

5. Napster was released.

6. People were beginning to worry about Y2k

7. Friends was the most popular show on tv.

8. The first Matrix was in theaters.

9. Lenny Kravitz was extremely popular.

10. Bill Clinton was president.

Bryan Bulaga Year Two

Before I start making suggestions on Bulaga's style in year two, I'd like to begin by going back to last season. After the Packers won the Super Bowl, there was a picture of Bryan Bulaga and his girlfriend, Let's take a look.


I know what you're thinking, you can't see her face. I'll tell you what, I've never seen her face either, but I've got a sneaky suspicion that it is very attractive based on her other features in this picture. The wavy blonde hair, my oh my Bryan you really are a Super Bowl Champion.



All I have to say here is: please let your hair grow Bryan. This is football, not the military. Step into Clay Matthew's office and let him give you some solid, sound advice on how to manage your hair style. That is all, thank you.

Josh Sitton Riding a Bike

Look at this picture of Josh Sitton on his bike. I have absolutely no problems with my boy Josh getting on the bicycle, but let's not his hair.

Probably one of the better efforts you're going to see on the Packer football team. Don't worry Packer fans, I didn't forget about Clay Matthews, hence the word better and not best in terms of effort in hair.

If we could get a little smile from Josh we would have it made in the shade my friend. Keep it real Josh, the bike is a very solid look for you.

This kind of cover is the dream of most football players and Clay Matthews hit the jackpot when appearing on the April 2009 edition. He stands confidently aside fellow USC teammates Brian Cushing and Rey Maualuga who all were all expected to be drafted early on. Clay Matthews was selected as the 26th overall pick--not too shabby for an often described "late bloomer" who was physically undersized until bulking up his senior year in high school.

I think that Clay Matthews appreciates the attention. With long blond locks, chiseled features, and a statuesque build, Matthews looks like a Roman general or English knight.

Clay Matthews - 3rd generation NFLer

Clay Matthews, a California native, has been playing football since he was a kid. Matthews left his Agoura High School with an All-CIF first-team honors and a four-year letter under his belt. With a father who played in the NFL for 19 seasons, a grandfather who played with the 49ers and a few other family members in the football circle, football is in Clay Matthew’s blood.

After high school, Matthews joined on with the Southern California football team. Clay Matthews only sat out one game in his entire college football career, which was the first game of his first regular season. Over his four years at USC, Clay earned multiple awards, served as a key special-teams contributor and won USC’s Co-Special Teams Player of the Year Award three times. Clay also played in four straight Rose Bowls and the 2009 Senior Bowl.

Clay is well known for his skill and versatility on the football field. Upon graduation, a few NFL teams fought for the right to sign Clay Matthews with the Green Bay Packers coming out on top. Matthews became the first linebacker ever picked from USC by the Packers in the first round draft.
