TJ Lang comfy in Michigan

TJ Lang is a fixture on Lambeau Field during the season, but what you may not know is that during the rest of the year, he makes his home in a Michigan city called Novi.  Seem friendly enough:

Novi, Michigan is home to 55,000 other people besides TJ Lang.  It has a sister city in Japan and Novi was incorporated as recently as 1969.  If you'd like to travel from Green Bay to Novi, you can expect it to take 8 hours and 3 minutes.  And that calls for taking a ferry straight across Lake Michigan!

Wonder if TJ Lang ever comes by ferry for the Packers games?  Something tells me the answer is no....

T.J. Lang

Thomas John Lang, nicknamed T.J., is a Michigan-born offensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers. T.J. Lang is an avid fisher, golfer and outdoorsman with a natural drive for the sport of football. Throughout his college career at Eastern Michigan, T.J. Lang also played basketball and privileged with the chance to attend the NCAA basketball championship game in Detroit last spring. With the Eastern Michigan football team, T.J. Lang never missed a season game and started all 36 games from his sophomore to senior seasons. With such a knack for football, it was no surprise when multiple NFL teams approached him with an offer for post graduation. Lang eventually chose the team he felt most in-tune with, and was officially drafted by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

TJ Lang, Future Cop?

TJ Lang is one of the newest members on the Green Bay Packers roster. He just graduated from Eastern Michigan in May 2009 after four solid years on their varsity football squad. The Green Bay Packers snatched him up in the draft and he's getting used to professional football play at this point.


But something that intrigues me about this player is his undergrad major--criminal justice. At 6'4" and 315 pounds, he has an imposing height and weight that might just stop any criminal in their tracks.

I like the thought of a big, athletic cop patrolling my neighborhood. They bring an element of safety and physical presence that smaller guys lacks. Sorry to all those little men out there who experience short man syndrome, but it's true. Wouldn't you rather have someone like TJ Lang on the the beat protecting your city rather than someone half his size?

Well, TJ Lang's career ambitions will be put on hold for a few years or more depending on his performance. In the meantime, all you have to do is purchase a Green Bay Packers ticket, head to Lambeau Field, and take in a game to watch this future cop in action. Works for me!
