Mason Crosby's facial hair

Mason Crosby fields questions about his grooming routine.

In the picture above, Mason Crosby is flashing more than a skeptical glance at reporters gathered around.  He's also showing off his close-cropped beard.

I'm not sure what to think.  Is this just Exhibit A of someone who skipped a few shaves?  Or is this an intentional grooming job with an electric razor?

The first theory means he's a laid-back guy who isn't going to let a professional NFL game dictate his shaving routine.  The second means he's a precise man with firm attention to detail.  These are important defining personality traits...all summed up in the beard approach!

Clue #1 lies in his sideburns, which are carefully cropped.  Clue #2 is in the eyebrows which are also defined.  In the end, I'm going with his beard-as-intentional-choice.  What about you?

Mason Crosby's Best Side

Like many of us, Green Bay Packers player Mason Crosby clearly has a more photogenic side to his face.  Here's a straight-on headshot courtesy of his official Green Bay Packers football profile:
Serious fellow.

Not much there to grab your attention.  Average looking guy, right?

But then, we change the angle of the picture, zoom in real close, catch him in the middle of an interview, and--BAM!--there we have it!  Green Bay Packer hotness!

Much more flattering.

How about you, Green Bay Packers superfan?  Do you have a good side?   Or just a good and even-better side?!

I'm so Happy Mason Crosby Resigned

This offseason, the Green Bay Packers resigned Mason Crosby to a five year extension. Crosby is only 26 years old and is extremely excited to be back with the Pack.

I'm expecting huge things from Crosby in 2011-2012. He is an absolute beast of a kicker. He might have the strongest leg in the NFL. Here are some awesome Crosby kicks

wind? snow? Yeah Mason doesn't care he drilled this kick through the uprights.

Game winner versus the Bears! Gotta love it!

So glad we have him back! Crosby's a stuuuuuddd.

Mason Crosby versus Jason Spitz: Who's hotter?

Gosh it's been awhile since I've done one of these "Who's hotter?" polls. Sorry, Packers fans. I know you've been waiting in anticipation.

Well, without further ado, I have a battle of the "-asons". You get one vote to let me know your decision.

Who is hotter: Mason or Jason?

Fun facts about Mason Crosby

Mason Crosby HeadshotFriday is finally here! Any intriguing weekend plans up your sleeve? I'm going to be out on the lake for a bonfire and some wake-boarding. Holla!

It leads me to wonder how our friends, the Green Bay Packers, might be spending their July weekends now that summer training camp is in full swing. I can imagine that my favorite Green Bay Packers kicker, Mason Crosby, probably has something relaxing in store, perhaps something from this swell list of his favorite past-times!

  • Could he be relaxing at home with his wife of two years, Emily? They married in June 2008 and spent their honeymoon in the Bahamas. Great destination!

  • Perhaps he's down in Texas throwing the pigskin around with his dad, Jim Crosby, a former runningback at Texas El-Paso.

  • Maybe, like me, he's on the lake. Mason Crosby loves the outdoors--camping, hiking, hunting, fishing. His claim to fame is spearfishing a 35 pound grouper!
Grouper FishDo people really eat these things?
  • Then again, Mason Crosby could be out on the links, playing yet another round of golf. He's a very talented golfer who devotes much of his free time to participating in charity golf events. Yet another testament to his athletic prowess!
So there you have it--a list of facts to give new dimension to your understanding of Mason Crosby. Enjoy your weekend!

Mason Crosby

Mason Crosby is a placekicker for the Green Bay Packers who has made great strides in his first two years on the team. Crosby has posted more points than any NFL player in history during their first two seasons on a team, and continues to improve. Although Mason Crosby was drafted in 2007, he has already been named to the All-Decade team for the first nine years of the 2000s by The Sporting News. This feat makes Crosby the best collegiate kicker of the decade.

As a University of Colorado football player, Mason Crosby was considered the best kicker and named one of the Top 5 Seniors by position in 2006. Crosby was also selected as a First Team All-American for the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. Mason was Colorado’s all-time leading scorer by over fifty points, which made him the first Big 12 Conference player in history to be named player of the week eight times.

Mason Crosby was the 19th pick of the sixth round in the 2007 NFL Draft, where he was plucked by the Green Bay Packers. Crosby blew away the Packers in his first pre-season game when he kicked a 52-yard field goal. This was the longest field goal in the history of Heinz Field so he definitely made an impression. Crosby has been going strong with Green Bay ever since, and was even voted the Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week finishing the season with the highest-scoring in kicker franchise history.

Mason Crosby and a Grouper

I'm sure Green Bay Packers placekicker Mason Crosby has plenty of groupies but it's a grouper that he recently caught which has provided him with one major fish story! Check out this 35" fish!
Though this isn't the exact grouper Mason Crosby pulled from the sea's depths, it is the length and weight of Crosby's catch.

Now, get this. He didn't even use a fishing rod and reel. He caught this sucker while spearfishing!

I'm trying to picture Mason Crosby with a spear in hand, wading in warm ocean water.

I'm thinking it would look something like this pose, minus the helmet and jersey from Mason Crosby's undergrad days at Colorado. Very celebratory. Very primal.

If you'd like to see a more accurate staging of Mason Crosby fishing, he'd be glad to oblige. He likes to take part in a Green Bay Packers cruise every winter that takes the players and lucky fans from Lambeau Field down to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay. I would love this opportunity! Do you know anyone who has actually gone on this dream vacation? And has anyone caught a grouper?!
