Jordy Nelson's little boy

There are few things cuter than a dad and his little one bonding and playing together.  Jordy Nelson is one of those guys lucky enough to call themselves a father, in this case to his little boy Royal.

Royal will turn three this February so he's probably getting to be a good kicker and thrower with the mini footballs his dad is sure to be passing his way.  Together with his wife, Emily, Jordy Nelson is raising Royal right around Green Bay, Wisconsin, making this family guy in close proximity to his career.  Emily, meanwhile, works at a local elementary school.  Just the typical all-American couple...except for the fact that Jordy Nelson is living the dream on Lambeau Field.  Oh yeah!

Jordy Nelson's Buzz

Jordy Nelson has the Midwestern good guy charm and matching blond hair, blue eyed looks.  But what about that buzz cut?

It's definitely practical for sweeping the Green Bay Packers helmet off and on, but c'mon.  I think Jordy could stand for a new style sometime in the next couple Packers seasons.  I've found a few options below.

No radical changes here.  Just a little length to the top, spiking it up for some height, and maintaining the short buzzed sides that Jordy Nelson seems to favor.  

What do you think about these choices?  Should he go all out and grow it long instead?

Jordy Nelson Day!

It may be August, but flip the calendar ahead to 2013 and get ready to party on February 17th.  According to Kansas Governor Sam Brownbac, February 17th will henceforth be better known as the official Jordy Nelson Day statewide!  Yee-haw!

This got the ol' wheels turning about how to celebrate Jordy Nelson Day in my own life.  Here are a few options.

1.  Peruse the internet for Jordy Nelson video clips.  There are plenty!

2.  Look like your idol: shave your head!

3.  Travel to Kansas and visit Jordy Nelson's birthplace in Manhattan, Kansas.  A true Green Bay Packers pilgrimage!

I'll probably stick with option one on February 17th.  How about you--any other creative ways to celebrate this memorable event?

Donald Driver Says He'll Play Until 40

Donald Driver has said that he would like to play football until he is forty. Are you kidding me? He's going to be like Stephen Hawkin. Seriously Donald, I love you to death and love watching you play, but you got to retire! It's not good for you, you gotta quit while you're ahead with football. We've got Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, and James Jones! The Bears and Vikings don't have any receivers that good! We'd love to have you, but want to see you live past 60. Thank you,

Jordy Nelson Predictions for 2011-2012

Jordy Nelson is an absolute stud. He is a b-o-s-s and any other superlatives you can think of that end up with making Jordy Nelson sound like the coolest person in the entire world. Here are my projections for what kind of season Jordy Nelson is going to have in 2011. Buckle your seat belts Packer fans because I have lofty expectations for this young man.

Catches: 90

Receiving Yards: 950

Touchdowns: 9

With the loss of James Jones and Nelson's continued development, I'm expecting huge things from Nelson this year. He might make the Pro Bowl if he does this well.

Jordy Nelson down on the farm

Jordy Nelson may have put down roots in Green Bay, Wisconsin (his wife, Emily, works at a local public elementary school, too) but farming and the rural countryside is in this guy's blood. Born in 1985 to Alan and Kim Nelson, Jordy was brought up on a farm in the heart of Kansas, USA. He spent his youth helping his parents, attending Kansas State football games, and perfecting his sprinting skills. At the age of 10, little Jordy Nelson won the national AAU championship in the 400 meter dash! A few years later, he set the school records in the 100 and 200 meter dash and was all-state in basketball. Farm boy athlete!

After playing college football at Kansas, Jordy Nelson was drafted to the Green Bay Packers and he quickly gained notice from the staff and fellow players. In 2008, Jordy Nelson made a name for himself as the only rookie in Green Bay Packers history to tally over 30 catches and one 45 yard kick return.

When he's not tearing up the field with his crazy speed, he likes to listen to country music and hang out with his parents on the farm. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have expanded beyond their farming enterprise into the dining industry. Jordy and his wife like to grab some grub at his parent's restaurant, Nelson's Landing, established in 2007.


They offer pan friend chicken, Mexican fiestas, and everything in between. The 87 cent beer every Monday doesn't sound too bad, either. And perhaps during the off-season you'll see Jordy Nelson pull up for a hot meal after a long day working on the farm. Yee haw!!!!

We're Not in Kansas Anymore Jordy!

Jordy Nelson grew up in Riley, Kansas and went on to play at Kansas State University. Nelson is a spectacular athlete who holds the Kansas 3A 100m dash record. With the 5th pick in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft, the Greenbay Packers drafted Jordy Nelson after his monster senior year in which he caught 122 balls and scored 11 touchdowns. In 2009, he caught 22 passes for 2 touchdowns. To be quite frank, Jordy isn't really a factor for the Packers. Mostly because of the amount of depth that the Packers have at wide receiver. He tends to struggle against elite competition. Most notably when he's faced with the daunting task of playing against the stronger and far superior Minnesota Vikings. Just kidding Packer fans!

Yee Haw! Down on the farm with Jordy Nelson.

Jordy Nelson may be a new-comer to the Green Bay Packers (he was drafted in 2008), but to really know this wide receiver, we have to get to his roots: Kansas. Jordy Nelson is a farming boy, raised by his parents, Alan and Kim, on a farm outside Manhattan, Kansas. Jordy Nelson considers farming and country music to be his passions. I can hear a Garth Brooks montage playing as I imagine Jordy Nelson hauling hay bales and harvesting wheat and doing whatever else farmers do.

Jordy Nelson had a lifestyle adjustment to make, though, when he was picked by the Green Bay Packers and headed off to Lambeau Field. He now makes his home in Green Bay and his wife is the operator of a mentoring program at a Green Bay elementary school. Not exactly the right spot for fulfilling farming desires. But they seem happy there and I wish the couple well!

By the way, do wives have to buy their own Green Bay Packers tickets for home games? Is there a chance I might see Jordy's wife Emily at a few games this season? Or do they all get together in some private box to watch their husbands and boyfriends play? Let me know...
