Jermichael Finley's new popular last name

Jermichael Finley has made a name for himself on the Green Bay Packers football squad.  Sure.  Obvious.  But are his recent success helping to make the name Finley (and all its variations) more popular than ever?  That's my theory and I'm ready to explore it.

"Let me hear more!"
You see, the name Finley has never been more popular.  It was up to #364 on the charts in 2011.  Meaning "fair haired hero" or "fair warrior" the name is popular for both guys and dolls.  You can keep it as is or abbreviate it down to the adorable Fin/Finn.

Now that I've thought some more about this name, I've decided that yes indeed, my firstborn shall be named Finley...boy OR girl!  It has the sweet factor plus the Green Bay Packers association.  Now, just gotta work on finding the whole love and marriage part first....  ;)

AJ Hawk's bird profile

So AJ's last name is, obviously, Hawk.  Here's a picture for you nonbird lovers.

So fierce.

I guess if you had to have an avian last name, "Hawk" is better than just about everything else.  Hawks are amazing birds with great hearing skillz and can see eight times better than humans.  Speeds of up to 150 miles per hour have been reported when a hawk swoops in for the kill.  Fast?  Strong?  Great senses?  Sounds like AJ to me.

What would be the worst bird related last name for a football player?  Chickadee?  Those little birds are sweet but that certainly wouldn't inspire any fear among an opponent on the football field.  Flamino?  Pink.  Thin.  Graceful.  Not good for a linebacker.  And maybe just because of how it sounds, Dodo would be the worst.  Hawk is sounding better by the minute!

Curenski Gilleylen's Unique Name

Remember in elementary school when all the kids with ultra-popular names had to also go by a last name initial?  Today some of my friends are still referred to as "Molly T.", "Katie A.", or "Justin P."  Along with Nicole, Kimberly, and Nick, I think those might have been the top names of my generation.  (Go ahead and guess my age now.  I dare you!)

That certainly is a problem that Green Bay Packers player Curenski Gilleylen certainly did not face.  How many Curenskis were in his elementary school?  I'm willing to bet the farm that's a big fat zero.  In fact, the entire nameberry.com website hosts a big fat zero of Curenskis, too.

Oh well.  If Curenski Gilleylen performs to the best of his ability with the Green Bay Packers this season, a future generation may see a handful of little Curenskis in his honor!

Jake Allen: Single and Looking to Mingle?

If you saw this name--Ijathus Illimski--would you recognize it to belong to one of Green Bay Packer's newest players? That's right, Ijathus Illimski Allen is better known as the more pronounceable Jake Allen, a 24-year old player who was added to the Green Bay Packers roster in 2008. His Green Bay Packers bio prominently lists his "single" relationship status. I'm thinking that means he's on the prowl, right ladies?!

So what are we thinking? Obviously athletic. Can balance well. Focused. Lives in Mississippi. That could be a drawback or a bonus depending on where you're from.

Anyway, Jake Allen will be hanging out around Lambeau Field more and more frequently as we approach the regular season. Green Bay Packers tickets are already available...I'm seeing a connection here. Stop by Lambeau Field for a game and see this Green Bay Packers player live in all his NFL glory!
